My Station Part 2

The picture above is of the Icom IC-7000 that has now become my station main transceiver. The picture below shows a more compact shack. Having had a quick look around the Icom's menu system, all seems pretty straight forward. Not using the supplied HM-151 mic, swapped it for the 706 HM-97, this one seems to drive the audio out better. Also not using the supplied LDG IT-100 autotuner, much prefer manual tuning with the trusty Yaesu FC-902.

Using a programme called Icom7000BKT to read/write memory blocks & channels, a lot easier than pressing buttons on the radio. Also hooked up to HRD for rig control ( no need to touch any buttons on the radio at all, keeps it in 'new' condition). DM780 was easy to set up & was making psk31 contacts within an hour of connecting the transceiver up in the shack.

Had a few voice contacts, mainly on HF, not had the same 'great audio' reports I was used to with the Yaesu FT-950, but I was prepared for this as I had done my homework on the 7000. FM contacts on VHF/UHF been good so far, doesn't have the audio problem on FM.
